Many of us have silk treasures from trips abroad, neckties or prom dresses that are too special to cut up so we leave them tucked away in a drawer or box. It’s time to get them out and make something beautiful!

This workshop has three elements: You’ll begin by determining the fiber content of your fabrics by using the burn test. We will then cover two very different ways to work with silk: First, a very free, improvisational piecing technique I call ‘Pieces, Pairs and Panels’ and second, a foundation piecing method that gives stability and ultra-precise results, even with the lightest weight silks.

Working with your stash, you’ll construct elements in these two techniques that can be combined into a small, pillow-sized finished piece.

Using the techniques in RaNae's best-selling book Simply Amazing Spiral Quilts, learn to draw a Baravelle spiral block, then explore lots of ways to color them to create spirals, lightning bolts, pineapples and more. Along the way you'll learn RaNae's "painless paper piecing" techniques. Use your spiral block in a quilt or other project, or a pattern is provided for finishing blocks into potholders.

You’ll be surprised how easy it really is — and the learning curve for this is shallow, not a high mountain you’ll have to climb. You can master it in this class and feel confident enough to begin a larger project. You’ll love the simple process of it and you won’t feel intimidated by the A word any more!

This is a virtual workshop that features a Drunkards Path quilt square that goes together quickly. Pair this quilt block with the Eccentric Star quilt block to make a 47' X47" quilt.

There’s no measuring or precise cutting and each quilt will be unique. We will discuss color choices and using simple design principles to create an original dynamic composition.

MaryJo Busch will teach us to use a color wheel to create combinations of fabrics to create a variety of color schemes. Every student WILL go home with all the color combinations created and sealed in zip top bags and at least one block stitched out to use as a reference.

Make your Lemoyne stars twinkle by using the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star tool from Studio 180 Design. Stop cutting out odd shapes with angles that never quite match up and eliminate those bulky center spots where multiple seams intersect. You will be able to make a block as small as 3” with the same precision as a 12” block.

Less CAN be more! Create “eye-popping” land and seascapes by cutting strips of fused fabric, laying them onto a foundation then stitching back and forth with beautiful color threads. Small projects; more than one may be made during the workshop day.

Create a one of a kind project with design assistance. We will cover design options, planning, assembly tips, techniques, and finishing options. Make hand stitched hexagons florets to use in a quilt or sewing accessory.

Learn Lenore Crawford's fusing technique while beginning a beautiful fused art quilt using one of her patterns. Lenore will demonstrate how she uses fabric paint to increase the realism. No sewing is done in this workshop.
