The Spring Quilt Retreat will be held April 12-14.
Registration opens March 1, 2024.
Come join MJ Kinman as she introduces students to the technique of traditional piecing using freezer paper as a template. During class, she'll also share gossip about the gems being created and their owners.
Spend a fun day introducing the next generation to the joy of sewing. The kids will create a drawstring bag to carry all their stuff for overnights at friends or grandparents!
Spend a fun morning introducing the next generation to the joy of sewing. The kids will create their own fabric with coloring crayons, and then sew it into a pillow or tooth fairy pillow.
Annie has designed a special project just for us! Learn the very basic techniques for machine applique. You’ll be surprised how easy it really is — and the learning curve for this is shallow, not a high mountain you’ll have to climb. You can master it in this class and feel confident enough to begin a larger project. You’ll love the simple process of it and you won’t feel intimidated by the A word any more!
Bring your challenge list and check one off – or two if they are small. Did you have a project you can’t seem to find time for? Do it here – you will have the whole day to work it and spend time with other fabulous friends new and old.
Make your Lemoyne stars twinkle by using the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star tool from Studio 180 Design. Stop cutting out odd shapes with angles that never quite match up and eliminate those bulky center spots where multiple seams intersect. You will be able to make a block as small as 3” with the same precision as a 12” block.
We will offer another UFO day to spend getting those final touches on projects for holiday giving. Come spend the day with other likeminded friends.
Double-points put a contemporary spin on this long-time favorite and eliminate the need for a traditional appliquéd circle in the center! Learn Susan Cleveland's method to assemble arcs and rings and turn the points. Follow her pattern or design your own Dresden in class!
Learn Lenore Crawford's fusing technique while beginning a beautiful fused art quilt using one of her patterns. Lenore will demonstrate how she uses fabric paint to increase the realism. No sewing is done in this workshop.
This workshop is now full.
Learn to use the camera in your smartphone or tablet to take and edit better pictures of your quilts. Participants will use their own phones or tablets, and will use software (downloaded before class) to edit the pictures to improve their quality.
The Boutique Committee for the Quilt Show is hosting this Sew-In! We are looking for sewers to help construct small items to sell at the Boutique. If you would like to attend, please email or call Mary Dietz.
Join us for general quilt show prep. You can use this time to work on any project related to the quilt show.
There is no fee for this workshop.
Have you started making your Quilt of Valor? If not, do you need a little encouragement and support to get started? Or better yet... to get it finished? Join other like-minded sewers at the Quilts of Valor “sew-in” on Wednesday, February 22 at Faith Lutheran Church, 680 W. Deerpath Road in Lake Forest (the usual location for workshops).
So bring fabric, your sewing machine, and supplies to work on your quilt… to have it ready for the show in October. It will be fun to see everyone’s quilts! If you have any questions about the "sew-in", contact Deb or Cheryl... and we hope to see you on Wednesday, February 22nd.
IMPORTANT: Please RSVP to Deb Sherrock by Tuesday, February 14 if you plan to come to the QOV “sew-in” on February 22. If we need more space at the church due to an overwhelming response, we need to let them know a week in advance.
There is no fee for this workshop.
